The Australian Sailing Team’s Jessica Crisp is currently in 11th position after three days of racing at the RS:X World Championship, in Weymouth, England.
Crisp has had a consistent start to the regatta, with a sixth and seventh placing on day one, eleventh and sixth on day two and a fifth and eighth on the third day.
The 2008 Beijing Olympic Games representative is just six points outside the top ten as the competitors split into gold and silver fleets for the finals series.
Crisp is beginning her campaign for a fourth Olympic Games appearance and is enjoying the opportunity to get an early look at the 2012 London Olympic Games venue.
The fleet was greeted on the opening day of the regatta by demanding 30 knot winds which tested all and sent the majority into the water at some stage during the first two races.
Since then the wind has become a bit more manageable, shifty and averaging around 15 knots as the fleet heads into the regatta’s lay day on Monday.
Spain’s Marina Alabau has dominated the regatta so far, winning all six races on her way to a five point lead over fellow Spaniard Blanca Manchon with France’s Marine Rambaud in third.
