Minister for Sport, the Honourable Kate Ellis MP, christened the Australian Sailing Team’s newest 470 at an informal ceremony at Middle Harbour Yacht Club.

The minister joined Beijing Olympic Games Gold medallist Malcolm Page, skipper Mathew Belcher and coach Victor Kovalenko to christen the most recent addition to the AST fleet.

Page and Belcher continued the tradition of naming Australia’s 470 men’s boats after Nicole Kidman movies, with this one to be known as ‘BMX Bandit.’

The pair will compete in the boat throughout their campaign for a Gold medal at the 2012 London Olympic Games.
