Belcher/Page 470 Season Update 11 – Europe again

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

Hi all

Mathew and I have just completed a weeks training in Sydney.  It was a tough week on the body with strong and cold winds.  I hope you like some of Victor’s latest photos showing some of the horrendous sea-way we have been battling.

Most of the regattas and last few months have hardly seen the trapeze wire being used, so it was great to be able to stretch the back and muscle the boat again.  After being out of the 470 for almost a month, as I was competing at the Farr40 worlds, I felt very lucky to be hopping back in with Mathew as he is in such good form.  This allowed for me to get back in the saddle quickly.

Mathew is currently on the jet flying to Europe, and I will be leaving tomorrow.  We are heading to Medemblik, Holland for the 5th World Cup event of 2010.  The weather in Holland over the last week has mainly been in single digits, so I hope the cold winds that we have experienced in Australia, have hardened us up a little for what we will experience in a few days time… brrrrr

It is all good news from the latest world ranking release.  Mathew and I have jumped up from 10th to 5th place.  Of the top 5, we are the only boat that is not carrying points from the Beijing Olympics, so if we are able to keep our current form we should rise again over the next few months.  Fingers crossed.

Being an old guy and lacking technology skills.  Mat has pushed me into some new areas.  So we are proud to announce that we have a new team website.  Which we believe is ready for release.  So please check out it out www.belcherpage2012.com and save it into your favourites.

One of the great features of this website is being able to send our updates out from the site.  This will help us when we have dodgy internet access in some remote part of the world, and allow for us to send only 1 x email that will in turn be distributed to the whole list.  So over the next week you will all receive an email from “FeedBurner Email Subscription” titled “Activate your Email Subscription to: Belcher and Page”.  So please click on the link within the email and authorise your subscription.  Please feel free to send this information onto anyone who would be interested in receiving these updates.  They can add their email address on the front page of www.belcherpage2012.com in the box on the right hand side.

Thanks for your support.

Regards

Malcolm
