Challenging conditions for Queenslanders at Sail Sydney Day 1

Monday, December 6th, 2010

The second leg of the Sail Down Under series has kicked off here on Sydney Harbour with the first day of racing coming to a close.

With a hot and sunny day to begin Sail Sydney the unusual conditions of Sydney Harbour with its geographical effects and enormous spectator traffic, can be a very difficult place for anyone without local knowledge.

Queensland Team members have started strongly again. In the 29er class Lewis Brake and Josh Franklin started relatively well ended up 4th overall.

Sophie Lahey and Joel Turner came away with two consistent races to end in 2nd.

In the 420 Gough and Galloway came away with two bullets a near perfect first day.

On the RSX course Luke Baillie from the Queensland Team has sailed well to come out of day one in 3rd position, behind James Levy and Marco Baglione from Italy.
