Flooding update – race status
An initial meeting of the Race Committee has occurred this morning to discuss the current flooding and weather conditions in the Brisbane area and the impact these factors may have on the Surf to City Yacht Race.
At this stage, the Race will still go ahead on Saturday the 22nd January.
A review of the situation is scheduled for this coming weekend and further updates will be published in due course.
The Race Committee will be considering the predicted weather, sea state and debris levels.
Entry closing dates
In recognition of the current conditions and the impact these may be having of skippers trying to enter, the closing date for entries has been extended to the 19th January 2011.
Furthermore, late entry fees have been waived.
As the closing date is now a few days before the start of the race, to assist the Organising Authority, the Race Director does ask all skippers who can enter, to do so as soon as possible rather than leave their entry to the last minute. The extension has been introduced to assist those who need extra time to complete their entry.
Sailing Instructions
The Sailing Instructions will be published to the Surf to City website by close of business tomorrow (Thursday 13th). Those skippers who have already entered the race will be sent an email once the instructions are available.
