The Capricornia Cruising Yacht Club will soon be hosting its main blue water event, the Yeppoon to Mackay Ocean Yacht Race on the Labour Day weekend. The history of this race goes back to 1975 and was conducted annually until 2003 when military exercises at Shoalwater Bay caused cancellations for the next 5 years. In 2008 the CCYC decided it was time to resume the tradition of the race.
The course of approximately 170nm has been modified to comply with Category 3 Rules to cater for most club boats and continue the friendly spirit of this race. t on Saturday 30 April sits perfectly for this year’s racing calendar, being the weekend following Easter and the Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race.
The briefing and farewell dinner will be conducted at the CCYC on Friday 29 April with the welcome and presentation at Mackay Yacht Club on Sunday 1 May.
The Notice of Race and Entry Form are available on the CCYC’s website www.ccyc.org.au
