Hello to all our fellow sailing clubs
After much committee discussion, feedback and phone calls to various clubs on the bay, the Moreton Bay Yacht Club has decided to change the date of the annual Fairway Challenge from February/March to October. There are a couple of reasons for this – 1. The interclub racing calendar is extremely busy in the weeks prior to the Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht race and 2. the MBYC committee believes this race should be run on a full moon with tides accommodating the deeper draft yachts.
Therefore, there will be another Fairway Challenge Yacht Race run this year on Saturday October 8th, comprising of 2 fleets, inshore and offshore. Details will be provided in the coming weeks.
It is our intention from this time on to run the Fairway Challenge on the full moon each October. This will still be run in accordance with the Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht race criteria. Please put this date down on your calendars.
