The Moreton Bay Yacht Club invites owners or skippers of eligible yachts to submit an Intention to Participate in the re-vamped Fairway Challenge to be held on the new date of 8 October 2011.

The revised date will be accompanied by changes to various aspects of the event responding to feedback from past participants and other interested parties.  The event improvements include:-

  • Minimal impact on other inter-club events.
  • Acceptance of prior safety accreditation in ‘same year’ Category 2 or Category 3 events.
  • Race start times and predicted finish times more closely related to high tides.
  • Mandatory briefing including more detailed coverage of updated MSQ and Brisbane Port Control expectations and weather predictions.
  • Closer timing relationship between the briefing and the actual event.
  • Improved marina and catering facilities both before and after the event.
  • The addition (by popular request) of a simultaneous “bay” event to cater for sports boats, trailable yachts etc.
  • Revised initial short course with greater yacht separation.
  • Revised finish line with GPS coordinates within the Sailing Instructions.
  • Actual marina entrance least depth available at finishing time upon request.
