Match Racing
Southport Yacht club has a small but successful history in Match Racing with our team performing well in the early 90′s.
Our youth teams placed 3rd and 5th in the World Youth Match Racing in New Zealand and the Interpacific Challenge had our teams racing in crews of 7 in MRX class yachts for a 5th and 4th.
Recently our SYC team placed:
1st Youth Team – 2011 Queensland Championships
1st Women’s Team – 2011Qld. Championships
4th - 2010 Youth Match Racing Championships.
Southport Yacht Club will be the host venue of the 2011 Australian Open & Women’s Match Racing Championships in partnership with Yachting Australia.
The Match Racing will be held in Sailing AcademyBlazer 23′s and will consist of Round Robin races to qualify for Semi Finals and Finals.
The 2011 Australian Match Racing Championships will be held October 2011.
Open Teams are racing 3rd to 7th October
Women’s Teams are racing 10th to 14th October
