Australian 12m Historic Trust – CREW NEEDED

Tuesday, November 1st, 2011

Dear Yacht Club Members,

A quick update on the progress of the Australian 12m Historic Trust and our two America’s Cup Yachts – Australia & Steak n Kidney.

Following considerable refit delays the KA-5 Australia has been lowered back into the water in Mackay today, 1st November 2011.  The KA-14 Steak n Kidney will follow tomorrow morning.  Both yachts will have their masts and rigging re-installed throughout the remainder of this week, with shakedown sailing to commence Saturday and Sunday.  We are some 5 weeks over due – who said yacht restorations ran on time!

Given the unexpected extensive delays, many of our available crew members have had to return to work and other commitments.  As such we are once again calling for individuals or organisations who can assist us with the return voyage from Mackay to Sydney.  If each of you could pass the word around that we are now looking for crew members, it would be appreciated.

It is anticipated that we will depart Mackay between the 7th and 9th of November, with the return voyage taking between 12 and 15 days to complete, pending weather and/or any other unforeseen circumstances.  However, this is going to be subject to having enough crew to man the two yachts.

The voyage plan is as follows;

LEG 1:  Mackay to Bundaberg – 3 days (Commencing 7-9th November)

LEG 2:  Bundaberg to Hervey Bay – 1 day

LEG 3:  Hervey Back to Mooloolaba – 1 day

LEG 4:  Mooloolaba to Brisbane River – 2 days

LEG 5:  Brisbane River to Southport – 1 day

LEG 6:  Southport to Coffs Harbour – 2 days

LEG 7:  Coffs Harbour to Port Macquarie – 1 day

LEG 8:  Port Macquarie to Nelsons Bay – 1 day

LEG 9:  Nelsons Bay to Newcastle – 1 day

LEG 10:  Newcastle to Pittwater – 1 day

LEG 11:  Pittwater to Sydney Harbour – 1 day (Arriving on Saturday 26th November)

LEG 12:  Sydney Harbour to Wollongong – 1 day

Interested persons or organisations, please make contact on the details below.  Thank you all in advance for your time and assistance.
