2010 Laser Radial Women?s Worlds Report ? Ashley Stoddart The Laser Radial Women?s Worlds is complete after only 6 races out of 12 races scheduled.
In the training beforehand we probably had the best run of wind, where the breeze was continuous- making some great training.
The regatta started with similar conditions, however the second half of the regatta became more of a wait for wind, either to ease or fill into the bay. Where the final two days did not get any racing completed.
The first day was raced in the most even breeze of about 15-18 knots, even though it was raced in an offshore breeze ? basically unavoidable in the race area mostly surrounded by land. This was my best race where I placed 3rd, after rounding the top and bottom marks in 1st in front of Olympic Gold Medallist- Anna Tunnicliffe. Between races proved Scotland?s ability to turn on the cold. Both feet were numb, it was freezing. Read more…

The 21 year old Noosa Yacht and Rowing Club sailor who normally competes in a lightweight sailing suit on the Noosa River was forced to stack on the layers of clothing to lock out the chill factor and still managed to finish 13th in the fleet which attracted 148 entries representing 32 nations. Perth, W.A., 3rd February 2010 William Tiller of Auckland’s Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron, heads the leaderboard at the end of the shortened round robin section of the Warren Jones International Youth Regatta, so gets the privilege of choosing his opponent in the semi-finals.
It will be a tough call, as the other three qualifiers would all make formidable opponents. Phil Robertson is from the same Auckland club, and used to be Tiller’s skipper, David Gilmour of the host club is a firey newcomer who has nothing to lose, while Peter Nicholas is the big improver of the series, getting better every day. “I have no idea who we’re going to choose yet,” said Tiller when he stepped ashore, “I’ll have to talk to the team about it,” and he has until Thursday morning to make up his mind, so perhaps a night’s sleep will help.
Queensland Hobie sailors Andrew Gough & Jackson Grant returned from their major national competition with second place in the Hobie Class in the 2010 OAMPS Australian Youth Championships.

These sailors are new to the Hobie class and have been sailing Hobie 16s together for just five months. The boys are part of Yachting Queensland’s High Performance Sailing Squad and were given the opportunity to change classes and compete in the Multihull Division. They are both keen sportsmen who formed a team after joining their school’s sailing program at Brisbane Boys’ College.

Perth, Western Australia - 31st January 2010. The 2009 winner, Phil Robertson of New Zealand, is back to defend the Warren Jones International Youth Regatta trophy, but it’s not going to be easy, there are ten other skippers who want to put their name on it. Kyle Langford of Sydney is hot having won the qualifying series last week, and there are two other Kiwi skippers, Reuben Corbett and William Tiller, either of whom would happily carry the winnings back to Auckland.
Then there’s the surprise package from the qualifying series, Peter Nicholas of the host club, who finished second, and firey young up-start David Gilmour, also from the hosts, Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club. Robert Gibbs from the Royal Perth Yacht Club has got close to winning a few times, but never finishes the job, while David Chapman of the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron has some good results to his name.
Before he lifted the trophy as a skipper last year, Phil Robertson was also part of Adam Minoprio’s winning crew in 2006, so he knows what it takes, “we know most of the youth guys, so we know what to expect, we’re pretty keen to get into it,” he said about the event and his competitors.

was a great regatta for all competitors. Thanks to all the volunteers and officials who helped to run the regatta and make it as enjoyable as possible.
The event was located at Georges River 16s Sailing Club on Georges River. It went from Saturday 3rd October to Monday 5th October. The regatta was constituted for 3 days of racing with 7 races. Saturday was scheduled for 2 races, Sunday for 3 and Monday for 2.
There was quite a competitive junior fleet in the regatta with Dylan Passmore the NSW Champion and numerous other Optimist sailors. It was set to be a great regatta! Haha.
